Despite facing some backlash for his deal with Turki Alalshikh, Canelo Alvarez’s decision has turned out to be an incredibly lucrative one.

The legendary boxer has looked sensational of late, beating several younger, hungrier talents than himself. While some have been hinting at a potential retirement for the Mexican, it seems the 34-year-old isn’t ready to hang up the gloves just yet.

Instead of winding down his career and taking money fights, Canelo Alvarez has instead decided to sign the biggest deal of his life.

The North American put pen to paper on a deal with Turki Alalshikh, agreeing to a numerous-fight deal with the Saudi Arabian.

Now, weeks after coming to an agreement with Alalshikh, news of Canelo Alvarez’s payout has been revealed.

According to Carlos Aguilar, Alvarez will be raking in the biggest payday of his career, earning a reported $400 million over a five-fight period.

“It’s not going to be four [fights],” Aguilar told MVS Deportes. “Everything indicates that it’s going to be five fights.”

“It’s going to be around 80 million dollars per fight for Saul ‘Canenlo’ Alvarez. Four in [Saudi] Arabia, one in the United States.” [h/t Marca]

Desperate to restore the prestige of boxing, Turki Alalshikh is determined to remove the ongoing politics and instead match the best against the best in the ring.

After agreeing a deal with Alalshikh, Alvarez has been linked with a number of high-profile bouts.

One rumor that continues to circulate is a clash between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford—which would be a battle between two of this generations greatest boxers.

In agreeing to Turki Alalshikh’s contract offer, Alvarez has shut down the possibility of facing Jake Paul.

The fight was believed to be edging toward an agreement before collapsing—forcing Most Valuable Promotions to share their thoughts about the news.
