Manchester United u21s couldn’t find the net despite a good performance which saw them drop points away to Chelsea.

Here are our player ratings for the match. Read the detailed match report of all the action here.

(A score of 6 is around average)

Will Murdock – 5 – Was shaky with the ball at his feet throughout and only made one save of note.

Habeeb Ogunneye – 6 – Not troubled much defensively but offered little in possession and overcooked a few passes.

Reece Munro – 4.5 – Was panic stations at the back and looked scared under the slightest pressure. Lucky to get away with a few poor clearance attempts and then launched a number of Chelsea counter attacks with his poor choice of passing. All in all a night to forget for Munro.

Tyler Fredricson – 5 – Also struggled to keep up with pace of Chelsea on the counter. Got turned inside out a couple times and caught in behind.

Harry Amass – 7.5 – Very calm in possession and playing out from the back. Got up the pitch well and could have had an assist or two with more luck. Pushed very high in possession though which left Fredricson with a lot of space to cover, which he wasn’t comfortable with.

Finley McAllister – 8 – A top performance in the heart of midfield covering every blade of grass. Strong in the challenge, covered the backline well, spread the ball with quick and crisp passing and even crashed the box a few times. A Roy Keane like performance right down to even giving the assistant referee a good telling off.

Tyler Fletcher – 7 – Key to United’s dominance in midfield and was particularly good at one touch passing that carved open Chelsea to launch attacks.

James Scanlon – 6 – The quietest member of the attack, he struggled early on getting outmuscled a few times. He had to drift a lot as he didn’t see much of the ball on the right wing. But he improved as the match went on and had a few moments running in behind the backline.

Jack Fletcher – 7 – Picked up a lot of good spaces centrally but also kept popping up in the channels on both sides. Could have easily had an assist or goal on another day but United couldn’t find the finish for some of his dangerous balls into the box.

Jack Moorhouse – 6.5 – Pressed like a maniac early on, catching Chelsea out with his pace and strength on the ball. Launched a good few attacks with his dribbling early on before fading out a bit and being subbed at the hour mark.

Gabriele Biancheri – 7 – Always provided an out ball with some exceptional hold up play that was key to United controlling possession and getting up the field quickly. Just didn’t get the ball enough inside the box after being denied two early chances by phenomenal saves.

Substitutes

Amir Ibragimov – 6.5 – A bright cameo off the bench, caused some trouble down the left wing and was unlucky not to bundle in a goal late on when crashing the back post.

Sam Murray – 6.5 – Offered more composure at the back and was assured when making challenges which eased the panic at the back.

Tommy Rowe – 6.5 – Also added extra composure and confidence in a deep midfield position which allowed United to control the latter stages.
