Bucks To Re Sign Thanasis Antetokounmpo If Giannis Antetokounmpo Stays With Team

There are updates on some of the league’s biggest stars, including Victor Wembanyama, Anthony Davis and Luka Doncic’s injury status.

VICTOR WEMBANYAMA

In a crushing blow for the Spurs, rising star Wemby is expected to be out for the remainder of the season after the team announced he has deep vein thrombosis (a form of blood clot) in his right shoulder – discovered when he returned from All-Star weekend in San Francisco.

“Wembanyama started feeling symptomatic recently but believed he would feel better after two days off following the All-Star Game, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania. When symptoms persisted, Wembanyama underwent a battery of tests that showed the clot.”

ESPN say the team is optimistic that Wembanyama will make a full recovery by the beginning of the 2025-26 season.

Wemby’s teammate Chris Paul knows how hard Wembanyama will find it sitting on the sidelines for so long.

“It’s tough,” Spurs point guard Chris Paul said. “Tough more than anything, I think for all of us, knowing how much he means to our team, but more so knowing how much he means to the game and how much he loves to play.”

ANTHONY DAVIS

Davis will miss at least two more weeks due to his left adductor strain, the team announced.

It was the first official update since the diagnosis of Davis’ injury and the Mavs said he is “making good progress” and would be re-evaluated in two weeks.

Many insiders have been saying since Davis injured himself in his first game with Dallas that he will miss a significant amount of time. There are theories it also may have been due to the Mavs bringing him back too early form an abdominal strain injury he sustained with the Lakers, some physiotherapists and fans on X claim.

If he is to be re-evaluated in two weeks, that’s a minimum of seven more games he’ll miss. He has to play 65 games to be eligible for end-of-season awards, meaning he’ll likely be ineligible as he’s played 43 games.

LUKA DONCIC

The Lakers are holding Doncic out of Thursday night’s game against the Blazers, the team announced.

It’s part of his recovery from a calf injury that kept him out of action for 24 games.

But, the team is happy with the progress Luka has made and expects him to soon be able to play in back-to-back games, according to Marc Stein.
