When former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor was found liable for sexual assault in November, the Irishman stated his intentions to appeal the decision.  Several media outlets in Ireland have reported that McGregor filed that appeal this past Friday.

A jury ruled that McGregor was liable for an alleged sexual assault of Nikita Hand that took place in 2018 in a Dublin, Ireland hotel. Hand was awarded over $235,000 in damages and McGregor was also ordered to pay her legal expenses.  McGregor has denied the allegations.

“People want to hear from me, I needed time. I know I made mistakes. Six years ago, I should have never responded to her outreaches. I should have shut the party down. I should never have stepped out on the woman I love the most in the world. That’s all on me,” McGregor wrote on X after the judgement in November.

“As much as I regret it, everything that happened that night was consensual and all the witnesses present swore to that under oath. I have instructed my legal team to appeal the decision,” McGregor continued.

McGregor’s fiance, Dee Devlin, also released a statement following the November verdict  in support of her husband.

“My man and I have created a beautiful life together. I love him I trust him and I BELIEVE HIM!” she wrote on her official Instagram page. “Our four beautiful children whose smiling faces and happy hearts are testimony to the man he is and who we are! No one is entitled to comment on our relationship- we trust one another and love one another. Nothing or nobody will change that. Our family stands strong!”
