Anthony Davis plans to sign an extension with the Dallas Mavericks, sources tell ESPN. Davis, who had concerns about the long-term future of the Los Angeles Lakers, is on the same age timeline as Kyrie Irving. Davis was the first overall pick in 2012 one year after Irving went first in 2011.
Nico Harrison worked closely with Davis when he was his brand manager at Nike. The Mavericks also employ one of the best center tandems in the NBA in Daniel Gafford and Dereck Lively. Davis has gone on record multiple times indicating his preference to play power forward.
Davis will likely be ineligible for All-NBA due to his latest injury, but he was tracking to make one of the teams for the second consecutive season.
