The NFL has played regular season games in Europe, South America, and now they’ve got their sights set on Australia.

According to a report from the Herald Sun, the Melbourne Cricket Ground will serve as host to the league’s first trip down under. There will be an NFC West team involved, but it’s not the Seattle Seahawks. The Los Angeles Rams and Philadelphia Eagles are scheduled to play each other in October 2026, and that is apparently the matchup Australian NFL fans will be seeing two seasons from now.

The Rams have international marketing rights in Australia, while the Eagles have not just marketing rights but also Australia native and star offensive linemen Jordan Mailata on the team.

Nothing is official but NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will most likely provide more details during his media availability during Super Bowl week.

The report also notes that Melbourne will have “up to three” NFL regular season games over the next several years, so Australia is very much in the NFL’s plans in the long term.

If you’re unfamiliar with the time zone situation, Melbourne is 19 hours ahead of the Pacific Time Zone, so it’s feasible to have a 5:30 pm PT kickoff stateside while the Melbourne fans get to watch at 12:30 pm local time.

I hope you’re good with geography because the NFL’s global quest is unrelenting and will really take us around the world.
