This offseason is about turning a new page for the Las Vegas Raiders. After parting ways with Antonio Pierce after one season, the franchise was looking for a new head coach. Minority owner Tom Brady is believed to have had a major say in the decision, and the team has now found its guy.

According to Adam Schefter of ESPN, the Raiders have agreed to a three-year deal with former Seattle Seahawks coach Pete Carroll to become the team’s new head coach:

Once Ben Johnson chose to take the Chicago Bears job over the Raiders, Carroll immediately emerged as the new favorite to land the job. The franchise has spoken about wanting to establish a winning culture, and there is no doubt that Carroll has a long history of success at every level.

Carroll, of course, spent 14 seasons with the Seahawks, turning them into one of the NFL’s most successful franchises in his time there. He led them to back-to-back Super Bowl appearances in 2013 and 2014, raising the Lombardi trophy once. As a coach, he ranks in the top 20 all-time in both regular season and playoff wins.

Some may be concerned about his age, as, at 74, he will become the oldest coach in NFL history. However, even as he got older, the joy and passion he showed on the sidelines never lessened, and there is no doubt he will be motivated and energized in this new job with the Raiders.

The franchise has now taken care of their two biggest decisions this offseason under Brady after also agreeing to a deal with former Tampa Bay Buccaneers assistant GM John Spytek to become their new general manager. Now Brady has his choices in the building with Carroll and Spytek, and they will all look to come together and make the Raiders a successful, winning franchise once again.

Gus Bradley to return as Raiders defensive coordinator under Pete Carroll?

Pete Carroll will need to fill out his coaching staff with the Raiders, and one of the main positions could be going to a familiar face.

A recent report noted that former Raiders defensive coordinator Gus Bradley, who spent four seasons under Carroll with the Seahawks, is a top candidate to return to the Raiders in that same role under Carroll. Bradley was the Raiders defensive coordinator in 2021, the last season this team made the playoffs.
