The way this is being dragged out is farcical at this point. This smacks of the URC deciding that they need to make more of an example of Hansen.
I referee rugby and I've seen much more lenient bans being handed out for more serious cases of abuse. One including myself where I had to lock myself in the referees room and the punishment the club got was a 50% reduction in Six Nations tickets and to write letter of apology to me, which was essentially "sorry that happened to you, but it wasn't one of our club members".
I don't think Hansen was right to air his grievances the way he did, there's other ways to do it. But leave the punishment at the ban, having to attend a referees course (which I presume will be quite embarrassing for him) and the media training.
