It isn’t easy to get into the Baseball Hall of Fame as primarily a relief pitcher, but former Astros closer Billy Wagner will join that rare company. “Billy the Kid,” spent the first nine years of his career in Houston, racking up a franchise-best 225 saves and received Cy Young and MVP votes for his efforts in 1999. Wagner finished his 16-year career with 853 appearances, posting a 2.31 ERA with 1,196 strikeouts and 422 total saves – good for eighth all-time.
Which brings us to today’s quiz. Can you name the pitchers to lead every MLB franchise in saves since the statistic was officially introduced in 1969?
Good luck!
