Tragedy befell the Rallye du Maroc on Monday when Frédéric Baudry fell within the dunes, succumbing to his accidents later within the afternoon. He was 46 years previous.

The Frenchman was making his second World Rally-Raid Championship begin after ending seventy-third within the Rally2 class on the 2023 Rallye du Maroc, with hopes of ultimately doing the Dakar Rally. Using a Kove 450 Rally ready by Noamde Racing, he completed ninety-second in school within the Prologue on Sunday.

The accident occurred roughly ninety-seven kilometres into the stage, simply previous midway. In response to race director David Castéra, Baudry was unconscious when medical assist arrived. He was airlifted to hospital in Zagora however died at 4:45 PM native time.

“This night, your entire staff is deeply shaken by the tragic lack of Fred,” reads an announcement from Nomade Racing. “Our sincerest ideas go first to his spouse and kids.

“Fred, put together some stunning tracks for us up there! We might have beloved to help you all the best way to the tip of your Dakar dream…”

Baudry’s passing was the second deadly accident of the 2024 W2RC and the third loss of life amongst those that ran a race this season. In January, Rally2 rider Carles Falcón was killed by a fall in the course of the second stage of the season-opening Dakar Rally. Jonathan Savel, one other Rally2 competitor who did the Abu Dhabi Desert Problem within the spring, died whereas main a police raid in March.

He’s survived by his spouse Karine and kids Coralie and Allan. The household runs Tenting La Forêt, a campground in Aizenay.

“He needed to make his dream come true and cross the sand dunes,” wrote Karine. “He did it, however sadly, in the present day his ardour claimed his coronary heart.”
