Christian Pulisic and Cristiano Ronaldo may wind up in the same league – but not in Saudi Pro League: Shock club ready to bring him back to Serie A?

The one key role that François Modesto will play at Juventus

At 40 years old, Cristiano Ronaldo shows no signs of slowing down. As the top scorer in the Saudi Pro League and still a vital part of the Portuguese national team, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner continues to perform at an elite level and captivate fans across the globe. Despite his age, Ronaldo’s name remains in the headlines—not just for his performances but for his next possible destination.

Now, a stunning development out of Italy has reignited talk of a return to Serie A, potentially putting Ronaldo in the same domestic competition as Christian Pulisic, AC Milan’s American star. While few would have expected this specific club to enter the race, one newly promoted side appears ready to make the boldest move of the summer.

According to Calciomercato, the club reportedly preparing to make a move for Ronaldo is Como 1907, the recently promoted side from Lombardy. Fresh off their return to Serie A, Como has taken the transfer window by storm, investing an estimated $119 million in building a squad capable of not just surviving in Italy’s top flight—but competing for Europe in the coming seasons.

With Cesc Fabregas—former Arsenal, Barcelona, and Chelsea midfielder—now deeply involved in the club’s project, the Blue and Whites have attracted attention with their bold vision and financial backing. The potential signing of Ronaldo, though still far from confirmed, would mark the most ambitious statement yet.

“Como is thinking big. We want to build something lasting, something serious. And having a player of Ronaldo’s caliber would obviously accelerate that project,” a club insider told Calciomercato.

Why Cristiano Ronaldo? And why now?

While Como’s interest is real, negotiations have not yet been initiated. But the rationale is clear. Bringing in Cristiano Ronaldo would instantly elevate the club’s global profile. In addition to his on-field impact, the commercial appeal, fan engagement, and media attention he commands are virtually unmatched in the soccer world.

Despite turning 40, the Portuguese superstar has shown he can still score at an elite level, finishing as top scorer in Saudi Arabia and performing admirably for Portugal in major tournaments.

With Serie A’s media rights and global audience growing, having a figure like Ronaldo return could boost both league visibility and competition. It also fuels romantic notions of one final European chapter for the legendary forward.

What would it mean for Serie A?

If Ronaldo were to return, it would mark his second spell in Italian soccer, having previously starred for Juventus between 2018 and 2021, where he won multiple titles and consistently finished among the league’s top scorers.

Pairing the five-time Ballon d’Or winner back in Serie A alongside Pulisic, Rafael Leao, Kevin De Bruyne, Luka Modric, and other top stars would inject even more intrigue into a league already rich with narrative. It would also pit him once more against some of his fiercest historic rivals, including potential clashes with Inter, Milan, and his former club Juventus.
