Two camps who will be looking to claim consecutive League Cup victories on Tuesday night, Hearts will travels to the Broadwood Stadium when they meet Hamilton.
Starting with the hosts, managing to claim what was an expected 2-0 victory away at Stirling last week, Hamilton will be desperate to use that performance as a platform to build on. However, enduring what was a public crisis last season as they finished rock-bottom of the Championship table, John Rankin’s side have rightfully come under a huge amount of scrutiny. Signing off their nightmare 2024/25 campaign with a 3-1 defeat at the hands of Falkirk, the Accies also gained an unwanted reputation for their glaring issues on home soil. Last seen at the Broadwood Stadium slumping to a 3-0 drumming against Livington on April 26th, Hamilton collected just one-point from any of their final four Championship showdowns in front of their own supporters. Likewise, Tuesday’s hosts have mustered just a sole win from any of their last eight matchups in South Lanarkshire – a rut that stems all the way back to February 25th.
As for the visitors, while Hearts might have eventually been forced to settle for a bottom-half finish among Scotland’s elite last season, the Jambos signed off the 2024/25 campaign in the midst of a real flurry. In fact, winning all of their final four Premiership appearances by an aggregate score of 9-2, Derek McInnes’ men could be dreaming of the chance to mount a legitimate European charge next season. Getting their League Cup adventure underway with a thumping 4-1 victory at home against Dunfermline last week, the former Aberdeen boss will be calling on a repeat performance from his high-flying squad here. Pencilled in as a standout contender in midweek, Tuesday’s guests will also be excited by their most recent trip to South Lanarkshire. Securing a routine 2-0 win when they last travelled to the Broadwood Stadium for a League Cup showdown back in February 2023, we are expecting a similar outcome.
