The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has just uploaded all eight finishes from it’s UFC Nashville show on Saturday to YouTube.
Yes, the 20 minute video includes the entire main event between Derrick Lewis and Tallison Teixeira that ended with a big “Black Beast” win and an even bigger celebration.
This is not a typical move from the UFC — the promotion has been slow to adopt new methods of promoting their actual fight highlights from recent events. For the most part, they consider the fights and finishes to be content for their media rights holder — if you’re not watching ESPN+ when the event goes down, you’re not seeing the highlights.
That was the case for years, and the most you’d get off social media was a clip of a fighter celebrating their big win … no actual knockouts or submissions. Over time they realized this was dumb and now you get most UFC Fight Night finishes and highlights on the official UFC or ESPN social accounts. But if you’re not online around the time when the highlight happens, good luck seeing them in your feed or timeline.
So we’re happy to see the UFC now uploading this comprehensive collection of finishes from UFC Nashville. Eight of the twelve fights ended via stoppage, which is the most we’ve seen in a while (we’ve had two events over the past seven weeks with just one stoppage). That must have made some executive somewhere pretty happy, because now we have this YouTube video.
It may not convince fans to start tuning back into weekly UFC FIght Night cards outside of the Apex, but does give a worthy highlight to the fighters that brought the violence at UFC Nashville. Shout out to Fatima Kline, Mike Davis, Valter Walker, Jake Matthews, Tucu Tokkos, Vitor Petrino, Morgan Charriere, and Derrick Lewis! And shout out to whoever decided to collect their finishes into one video. Keep doing this!
