Barcelona have officially completed the signing of young winger Roony Bardghji from FC Copenhagen for an initial fee in the region of €2 million, the club confirmed on Monday.

The 19-year-old touched down in Barcelona over the weekend and was introduced to his new team-mates on Sunday.

He has put pen to paper on a contract that will keep him at the club until 2029.

The agreement with Copenhagen includes performance-based add-ons, as well as a sell-on clause, entitling the Danish club to a percentage of any future transfer involving Bardghji.

With his contract in Denmark set to expire in December, Copenhagen opted to cash in now for a reduced fee.

Bardghji is set to join Hansi Flick’s first team for pre-season training and is likely to be part of Barcelona’s upcoming Asia tour later this month.

A final decision regarding whether he remains with the senior squad or gains experience with the reserve side – who play in Spain’s fourth tier- will be made based on his pre-season performances.

A source inside the club described Bardghji as a “signing for the future”, while also noting that the youngster could make a short-term impact depending on his development.

Loan interest from other LaLiga clubs has already surfaced, adding another layer of potential options for his immediate future.

Bardghji, who holds Swedish nationality and was born in Kuwait to Syrian parents, rose to prominence in the Champions League two years ago.

However, his progress was temporarily halted by an ACL injury.

Despite the setback, he enjoyed a strong 2023-24 campaign, scoring 11 goals, including a memorable strike in Copenhagen’s 4-3 Champions League win over Manchester United, before suffering his injury in May 2024.

After nearly 10 months out, Bardghji made his return in March 2025 and featured in six Danish Superliga matches before the end of the season.

Now, with a fresh start at one of Europe’s biggest clubs, he’ll be aiming to reignite the potential that once had him pegged as one of Europe’s most exciting young talents.
