Following his win at UFC Nashville on Saturday night, Derrick Lewis received a congratulatory phone call from Donald Trump.
The 40-year-old is still going strong inside the octagon, adding the extremely dangerous Tallison Teixeira to his list of victims. Despite entering the fight as an underdog, ‘The Black Beast’ extended his record of most knockouts in UFC history to 16.
Moments after his win, Derrick Lewis shared some words with Donald Trump. During the post-fight press conference, Lewis revealed exactly what he and Trump discussed over the phone.
“I’ve been telling Dana [White] a couple of weeks now, I need to talk to [Donald Trump] about something,” Lewis said. “It’s classified [what we spoke about].”
“It’s almost something about terrorists and stuff like that… We don’t like the FBI right now, me and Trump.”
“You know, they’re trying to get that list out of us. So, I had to call, I had to tell the president, ‘Hey, you know, make sure they don’t have my name on that list.'”

When reflecting on his many iconic post-fight moments inside the octagon, Lewis put his phone call with Donald Trump above the rest.
“[I’d rank this post-fight celebration] probably number one, just because the president called me.”
“You know, we start talking about business, and I told him, ‘Wait, wait until I get to the White House so we can really talk.’ Yeah, it was pretty cool to have the president talk to me.”
Over the years, Derrick Lewis has become something of a fan favorite and a cherished member of the UFC roster.
While it’s unclear exactly what Lewis and President Donald Trump spoke about during their phone call, the knockout expert would undoubtedly be a beloved addition to the unique UFC event set to take place at the White House next year.
