Miami Dolphins 2025 stat predictions: Who will lead in sacks? Receive the most targets?

Last week, we asked you to vote on two statistical predictions for the Miami Dolphins in 2025. Our SB Nation Reacts survey took a look at one position on either side of the ball, trying to predict who will lead the team in key stats at positions with high-profile players. On defense, we took a look at the edge rushers and asked who will lead the team in stats.

For the offensive side of the ball, we looked at the wide receivers, asking who will be targeted the most.

Make sure you check out our partners, FanDuel sportsbook, for the latest Dolphins game and prop-bet odds.

Which edge rusher will record the most sacks?

Okay, I need to be fair here. When I made this question for the survey, I was thinking of the edge rushers, but that made me leave someone off the possible answers. Defensive tackle Zach Sieler has recorded 10 sacks each of the last two seasons. He probably should have been included in the possible answers – but we will stick to the edge rushers with Jaelan Phillips, Bradley Chubb, and Chop Robinson as potential answers.

You clearly have a favorite among the three options. A majority of the fans agreed that second-year pass rusher Robinson will surpass both of the veterans as Miami’s top threat to opposing quarterbacks:

Phillips and Chubb are both returning from injuries that sidelined them last year. Phillips sustained a town Achilles tendon in 2023, returning for Week 1 in 2024 but tearing his ACL in Week 4 and missing the remainder of the season. Chubb missed all of 2024 as he recovered from a torn ACL sustained in Week 17 of the 2023 season. Both players are expected to return to form this year, but fans seem to believe Robinson, who recorded four of his six sacks as a rookie in the final seven weeks of last season, will continue to grow into a special edge rusher.

Who will lead the team in targets?

The Dolphins’ offense struggled to find their rhythm in 2024, falling from the second-ranked scoring offense in 2023 to 22nd last year. The team did not look like the explosive team they were in the first two years of head coach Mike McDaniel’s tenure, when the offense clearly flowed through wide receivers Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle.

In 2022, Hill was targeted 170 times, leading to 1,710 receiving yards and 7 touchdowns, while Waddle recorded 1,356 yards with eight touchdowns on 117 targets. For the 2023 season, Hill was targeted 171 times, tallying a league high 1,799 yards with a league high 13 touchdowns; Waddle was targeted 104 times, picking up 1,014 receiving yards and scoring 4 touchdowns.

Last year, Hill was only thrown toward 123 times, seeing his yards drop to 959 with six touchdowns. Waddle dropped to just 83 targets – fourth on the team behind tight end Jonnu Smith and running back De’Von Achane – with 744 yards gained and two touchdowns.

The offense shifted away from the high volume of targets for two dynamic weapons – and injuries played a part in that – but the team is looking to return to getting the ball to Hill and Waddle this year. But, will Waddle in fourth season in the NFL, surpass Hill, who is entering his 10th year?

According to Dolphins fans, absolutely not:

Receiving nearly three-fourths of the vote, fans clearly expect Hill to continue to dominate the offense’s focus. Will the team see the return to the dynamic, high-scoring offense of 2022 and 2023 with Hill and Waddle both seeing huge numbers of targets?
