Paris Saint-Germain are one win away from capping off a remarkable campaign, as they prepare to face Chelsea in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 final at MetLife Stadium on Sunday. Calling it a “historic season,” head coach Luis Enrique shared a final message with his players ahead of the decisive clash.

Luis Enrique has become the architect behind what many consider the most dominant team in Europe, with PSG winning every competition they’ve played in during the 2024–25 season—including a memorable UEFA Champions League final. With less than 24 hours to go before kickoff, the Spanish manager reflected on the club’s success and the mindset heading into Sunday’s final.

“We’re arriving with very good feelings. It’s been a fantastic season, and for us, it’s important to finish this historic campaign in the best way possible. We’ve made history in Paris, and we want to keep making history by winning Sunday’s match,” he said at Friday’s press conference at MetLife Stadium.

“This will be far from a formality—it won’t be easy or anything like it. So we’re going into this match giving 100% of our current level and trying to cap off a historic season,” he added. While recognizing Chelsea‘s path to the final, including their Conference League title, Enrique also drew comparisons between the two sides.

“Because of the way they defend and attack, I think it’s clear to see the level they have with the ball. It’s going to be tough because, in my opinion, they’re similar to us in the most important aspects of the game,” Luis Enrique said, offering a word of caution to his squad.

Prize money breakdown for 2025 FIFA Club World Cup final: How much PSG or Chelsea stand to earn

PSG face a ‘golden opportunity’ to make history

PSG have already claimed four trophies this season, but they now stand on the verge of rewriting football history. With the Club World Cup, UEFA Super Cup, and Intercontinental Cup still to play, the Parisians have a chance to win up to seven official trophies in the 2025 calendar year—a feat no club has ever achieved.

With the inaugural expanded Club World Cup nearing its conclusion, star defender Marquinhos emphasized the significance of lifting the trophy: “We’re very aware of the importance of this match—it’s a golden opportunity. We don’t know what things will be like in four years (when the next competition will be held), or if we’ll get another chance to play in this tournament. From day one, we’ve kept that in mind.”

“We’ve had some good games and some big wins, but I think it’s a trap to talk about past matches. Every game has its own story. In a final like this, it’s 50-50 for both teams,” he concluded, setting the tone for what promises to be a thrilling showdown between PSG and Chelsea.
