Arman Tsarukyan is hard at work.
The top-ranked Lightweight contender lost out on his planned title shot versus Islam Makhachev earlier this year when a back spasm (or weight cut issue?) forced a withdrawal at the last second. For now, he’s missed out on his chance at Makhachev, and UFC CEO Dana White sent him to the back of the line.
As such, Tsarukyan is motivated to get back into the Octagon against whomever, though Paddy Pimblett and Justin Gaethje seem the most likely options. Adding fuel to the fire is a quickly heating beef with champion Ilia Topuria, so there’s lots of reasons for Tsarukyan to jump into action sooner than later.
Unfortunately, his coach suffered a bit for that enthusiasm. In the clip above, Tsarukyan is working his kicks on a mitt session. When a powerful spinning back kick sent his coach backwards into the fence, the door apparently wasn’t shut, leaving coach tumbling down the stairs as Tsarukyan ran after him.
“Can somebody please keep the cage closed,” Tsarukyan wrote in response. Thankfully, his coach seems to be alright, but this is a great way to get injured on the job!
