Thanks to their nature, NFL players feel immune to worldly problems and crimes against them. However, the world has shown us time and again that it is not the case.

Whether it was Tyreek Hill being unlawfully arrested or the burglary at Joe Burrow’s house, superstars in the league also faced immense hardships. More than half a year after the incident, Burrow finally revealed his honest reaction to the events.

What Does Netflix’s ‘Quarterback’ Reveal About the Break-In at Joe Burrow’s Home?

On the field, the season wasn’t going according to plan for Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals. While he was having his best season to date individually, it wasn’t translating to wins for the Bengals, and the franchise ultimately missed the playoffs for the second straight year.

But it wasn’t just a tough year on the field for the only quarterback outside of Patrick Mahomes to represent the AFC in the Super Bowl this decade. It got tougher from a personal standpoint, as he was the victim of a home burglary.

During a game against the Dallas Cowboys, which Cincinnati ended up winning 27-20, his home was looted with nearly $300,000 in jewelry as well as other items missing from his house. At the time, Burrow said, “My privacy has been violated in more ways than one.”

However, he did not extend any words beyond that. But now, as one of the three main subjects of the second season of “Quarterback” on Netflix, alongside Jared Goff and the returning Kirk Cousins, the burglary was a major subject for the show as a whole.

Giving a more candid response this time around, the LSU product blamed his bad luck throughout the year. “Of f***ing course it happened to me right now. When you’re on cloud nine, something’s gonna bring you right back down. It just felt like the kind of year that it was.”

While the perpetrators were eventually identified and caught, it left a sour taste in the two-time Pro Bowler’s mouth. For one, he had to halt his $3 million purchase of a replica Batmobile, as he felt it wasn’t the right time for the move.

A notoriously private individual, the two-time Comeback Player of the Year Award winner added, “I just get very uncomfortable when my life is very public. That comes with the job, but there’s certain parts of your life that are yours. Your house is one of those.”

It was a very unfortunate incident that one of the best players in the league and one of the most popular figures in the country had to deal with. Thankfully, the situation was resolved in a just manner, and Burrow can now focus on the upcoming 2025 season, which promises to be a critical one for Cincinnati.
