Les Snead ‘Fortunate’ To Be Rams’ Winningest General Manager

The Los Angeles Rams are coming off a successful season in which they were only a couple of plays away from defeating the eventual Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles and advancing to the NFC Championship Game.

The Rams finished 10-7 after dropping four of their first five games to capture another NFC West title. It was their sixth playoff appearance in the last eight seasons under general manager Les Snead and head coach Sean McVay.

Since assuming his position in 2012, Snead has led the Rams to a combined 119 wins between the regular season and playoffs, making him the winningest general manager in franchise history.

Snead gave credit to all of the front office executives, scouts, coaches and players he has worked with over the years to help him reach the mark, via Stu Jackson of TheRams.com:

“I call it fortunate, because it would take longevity to earn that,” Snead continued. “So that would be the (thing), right, fortunate, because you can try your best, you can be somewhat good, you can provide an edge, but boy, there’s so many bounces of the ball that had to go your way. And then the other part would be, being fortunate to be around a lot of good people to help it, help you get to this point as an individual.

“Football is not a one-person show. At all.”

Snead first began overseeing the Rams during their final years in St. Louis and remained with the team when they moved back to L.A. for the 2016 season. He has helped the Rams come a long way into becoming one of the most successful teams over the last few through shrewd drafting and big trades.

One of those deals was for Matthew Stafford, who led the Rams to a Super Bowl title in his first season with the team.

The Rams are also set up for long-term success with a talented secondary and defensive line, as well as solid playmakers on offense.

The Rams made a splash earlier this offseason when they signed Davante Adams to a two-year, $46 million contract at the start of free agency.

The 32-year-old has caught passes from Aaron Rodgers for the better part of his career and now will get to work with another respected veteran in Matthew Stafford.

Former NFL safety Ryan Clark recently said that Adams is already comparing Stafford to Rodgers in his prime.

Stafford and Rodgers are similar in that they aren’t very mobile, but two of the most accurate passers with a desire to win at all costs.
