Newcastle United are interested in signing Anthony Elanga from Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest in the summer transfer window, according to The Shields Gazette. The report has claimed that there is ‘confidence’ at Newcastle ‘that a deal can get done sooner rather than later and personal terms are not understood to be an issue’ following their second and improved bid.
The Magpies, who will play in the UEFA Champions League next season after finishing in the top five of the Premier League table in the 2024-25 campaign, had an initial bid of £45 million for Elanga last month swiftly turned down. Newcaslte made a new offer of £55 million in the past few days, and that could be the game-changer.
Elanga has been on the books of Forest since 2023 when he joined from Manchester United. The 23-year-old Sweden international winger has played 82 matches in all competitions for Forest so far in his career, scoring 11 goals and providing 21 assists in the process.
