India National Cricket Team premier pacer Mohammed Siraj lost his cool looking at the young all-rounder Washington Sundar make a blunder on the field during the second Test match against the England National Cricket Team.

The incident happened on Day 5 of the second Test match between India and England, which is currently underway at Edgbaston in Birmingham on Sunday, July 6.

Mohammed Siraj fumes at Washington Sundar

Siraj is an aggressive pacer who bowls his heart out for his team. He believes in giving it all on the field to make his team, and his best was seen during the Edgbaston Test.

In the first innings, Mohammed Siraj led the Indian pace attack exceptionally well in the absence of pace spearhead Jasprit Bumrah and bagged a sensational 6-wicket haul to bowl England out for 407 in 89.3 overs.

Mohammed Siraj also provided India with a great start in the last innings by dismissing Zak Crawley in the 2nd over for a 7-ball duck.

On the last day, Siraj was introduced late in the attack as India decided to start with Prasidh Krishna and Akash Deep. When Siraj was given the ball by his skipper, Shubman Gill, he gave his best but was unable to get wickets.

This might have left Mohammed Siraj frustrated, and when he saw Washington Sundar make a fielding error off his bowling, he absolutely exploded.

On the second ball of the 35th over, Mohammed Siraj bowled a 137 kmph short length ball to Jamie Smith outside off-stump, and the Englishman punched it towards Subdar at cover.

The Indian all-rounder was unable to stop the ball, and his fumble allowed Smith to take a quick single. Siraj was not at all impressed with this, and he was seen screaming at Washington Sundar and hurling abuse.

I think it’s impossible to have a mindset that we just win – Michael Vaughan

England finished Day 4 with 72/3 while chasing 608, and speaking on BBC Test Match Special, Michael Vaughan urged the Three Lions to play for a draw. He said:

“If you want to win the big series against the likes of India at home in five matches and you want to go to Australia, I think it’s impossible to have a mindset that we just win, that’s all we go for.

“We don’t play for draws. A draw for England from this position, and I hope they get more in a way of kind of success, if they can get away from here with a draw, it’s almost better than last week’s win because it’s completely against their natural trade.”

Meanwhile, former England pacer Steven Finn lauded India for completely outplaying Ben Stokes & Co. in the Edgbaston Test.

“England have been thoroughly outplayed by India outside of that partnership [between Harry Brook and Jamie Smith] where the wicket did go flat,” he said on BBC Radio 5 Sports Extra.

“As a bowler I look at the way that India made the most of every opportunity they had with the new ball. Right from that first morning after it went flat after 20 overs, we knew the new ball would be critical every time it turned up. Every time India had the new ball in the hand they’ve made the most of it.

“Probably more skiddy through the pitch-type bowlers as opposed to England’s hit the pitch-type bowlers which is probably why their trajectory has helped them skid on and hit the stumps. But they’ve been relentless. It’s been really impressive,” he added.
