Usyk Vs. Dubois 2: Daniel Dubois Insists Age Is A Factor For 38-Year-Old Oleksandr Usyk In Wembley Showdown

Daniel Dubois insists his rematch with unified heavyweight champion Oleksandr Usyk will be a much different fight than their first one when they battle on July 19th at Wembley Stadium in London.

IBF champion Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) claims he’s a “different fighter” after winning his last three fights, and he says Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) is now “38 years old.” He feels that Usyk has aged, and he’s going to “put it on him” in their main event clash. He wants to avenge his the ninth-round knockout loss he suffered against Usyk in 2023 in Wroclaw, Poland.

The Usyk vs. Dubois 2 event will be shown live on DAZN PPV, with the main card starting at 2:00 PM ET / 11:00 AM PT. The price is $59.99.

Dubois-Usyk 2: Different Fight?

“I’m a different fighter. He’s 38 years old. He’s going to know about it for sure,” said Daniel Dubois to Fight Hub TV about his rematch with Oleksandr Usyk on July 19th. “Clever, smart, but dangerous destruction. That’s my style. I can’t wait to put it on him.

“It wasn’t the best version of Daniel Dubois,” said Dubois about his loss to Usyk in 2023. “This time around, it’s going to be totally different. I’m going to win for a start. I can’t be denied right now.”

It looked like the same version of Dubois two years ago. The difference was that Usyk avoided his best shots through the first half of the fight and then put some punches together in the ninth round to get the knockout of Daniel.

Usyk does have decent power when he loads up on his shots, and once he gets his opponents hurt, he pours it on. We saw that in his first fight with Tyson Fury when he had him out on his feet after landing a powerful lead left hand on his chin.

Dubois: I’ll Stamp Authority

“If he’s going to come back, he’s going to have to face me for all the belts. That’s my priority right now. Get all the belts to really stamp my authority on this era of boxing,” said Dubois when asked about his thoughts on Tyson Fury, saying he wants to come out of retirement to fight Usyk in a trilogy.

Dubois can forget about Fury choosing to fight him when he comes out of retirement. He’s already said he wants Usyk, who is obviously a lot less dangerous and smaller. The last thing a low, past his best, chunky-looking Fury would like is to return from his brief retirement and get knocked out by Dubois.

‘The Gypsy King’ Fury isn’t after belts. So, even if Dubois does defeat Usyk to become the undisputed champion, Fury won’t be motivated to fight him. He’d still likely want to fight Usyk a third time, and Turki Alalshikh would still likely finance it.
