Google trends ranks Jake Paul above Ilia Topuria, UFC 317 during International Fight Week — ‘Men and women lie, numbers do not’

“They Better Book Me Before October”

Jake Paul is the king of combat sports.

That’s according to a Google Trends comparison posted by Most Valuable Promotions, which measures the frequency of search terms over a defined period of time. Paul out-boxed the recently-arrested Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on June 28 in Anaheim, the same night Ilia Topuria captured the lightweight title against Charles Oliveira at UFC 317 in Las Vegas.

“Nobody was watching your fight and just searched your name to see how it went,” one fan wrote on social media, while another added “Yes, because people WATCHED 317 and had to Google your event for the results, because they did not watch.”

The pay-per-view (PPV) numbers for both events have yet to be published but considering DAZN (Paul vs. Chavez Jr.) and ESPN (UFC 317) control that information, we’re unlikely to get any sort of hard data in terms of how many units were sold on each side. Naturally, that won’t stop the respective promoters from declaring victory.

Though it might be a battle for second place once Joey Chestnut takes the stage in Coney Island.
