Every Miami Dolphins draft class gives us at least some hope. Some turn out better than others, and often the player that no one talked about becomes more important than the “surefire” guy who fails miserably. We have all had our version of the “surefire” players that we were so sure of, that we just knew would be the guy and a big piece of this team finally winning, only to see it all slowly slip away, sometimes over several seasons.
Many players come to mind as those who, without a doubt, should have made it, especially if you’ve been a long-time fan. Many of you probably will choose the guy shown in this post on the front page. Dion Jordan came in looking a lot like Jason Taylor in build and resume. The sad difference is that, unlike Taylor, who dedicated himself to his craft when he played, Jordan preferred to dedicate himself to taking PEDs along with other drugs. Jordan managed only three sacks in his time with the Dolphins, the same number of suspensions he received as a Phin for failing drug tests.
There were others that went back much further. Some of you long-time fans will no doubt remember the first-round pick of LB Eric Kumerow. Kumerow was out of the league after only four seasons, three of which were spent with the Dolphins. Miami moved on from Kumerow after the first-rounder never managed to crack the starting lineup in any of his three seasons. Kumerow was the brother-in-law of DE John Bosa, who the Dolphins had drafted in the first round the year prior. Bosa was also out of the league after four seasons and is now probably more famous for being the father of Nick and Joey Bosa.
So this evening’s Phinsider Question Of The Day is;
Who was the player or players the Dolphins drafted that you were so sure would be a star for your favorite team, only to see them fail miserably?
