Journalist Ben Jacobs has provided an update on Arsenal’s top transfer targets this summer as they progress on a number of deals.
Writing for Give Me Sport, Jacobs named Real Madrid wide-forward Rodrygo Goes as the Gunners’ dream target in attack, though Crystal Palace’s Eberechi Eze is also on their list.
Arsenal could do with an upgrade on inconsistent duo Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, and one imagines most fans would be very happy with either Rodrygo or Eze.
Jacobs also reported on Arsenal working on a deal for Valencia centre-back Cristhian Mosquera, while deals also look close for Chelsea goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga and Brentford defensive midfielder Christian Norgaard.
Should Arsenal sign Rodrygo or Eze to solve their left-hand side problem?
Arsenal are a little overly reliant on Bukayo Saka to provide some spark in their front three, and it could be a big help for Mikel Arteta if they had a more reliable option on the left flank as well.
Both Rodrygo and Eze can play there, and their stats certainly suggest they could have a really positive impact at the Emirates Stadium.
See below for how they compared with their output in all competitions in the season just gone…

Both players have their qualities, but Eze arguably contributed more despite playing fewer matches, while he also managed to shine despite playing in a weaker team overall.
The England international is also proven in the Premier League, so should find it easier to settle quickly if he joins Arsenal.

It is of course possible that there might even be room for both players in this Arsenal squad.
Eze can play on the left of a front three, but would also give AFC an alternative to Martin Odegaard in a central attacking midfield role.
Rodrygo, meanwhile, can play on either flank and as a central striker, so it shouldn’t be an issue fitting both of these players in to the same line up.

Still, it seems Arsenal’s dream signing is Rodrygo and you can read up more about him with our Rodrygo player profile!
