Manchester United are actively looking to make changes to their squad after a disappointing 2024/25 season.
The Red Devils finished 15th in the Premier League and lost the Europa League final in a disastrous season but they have shown courage in the summer transfer window this summer to improve the standards at the club.
They have already secured the signing of Matheus Cunha from Wolves while they are edging closer to complete the signing of Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford.
While new signings are crucial to take them closer to the top of English football again, they also need to make sure they make the best use of the talent they have at their disposal.
Kobbie Mainoo wants to prove himself at Man United
United are increasingly confident that talented midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is committed to re-establishing himself at the heart of the club’s future plans, rather than exploring a potential move away this summer.
According to GiveMeSport, midfielder Mainoo is determined to succeed at Old Trafford and is fully focused on rediscovering his best form after an injury-plagued 2024/25 season.
Despite limited appearances last term due to recurring injury setbacks, Mainoo remains highly regarded by United’s hierarchy and coach Ruben Amorim.
It is understood that the Portuguese tactician has already held encouraging conversations with the 20-year-old since the end of the campaign.
Those talks have reassured the club that Mainoo is not looking a transfer and instead wants to force his way into Amorim’s plans ahead of the new season.

Red Devils still rate Mainoo highly

The central midfielder was considered one of the brightest prospects in the United academy system and broke into the first team during the 2023/24 campaign under Erik ten Hag. However, a string of injuries halted his momentum and prevented him from making a significant impact last season.
He is still highly-rated at the club with United putting a £70million price tag on him in the past.
With Amorim expected to refresh the squad across several departments, the competition for midfield spots is set to increase but Mainoo is said to be embracing the challenge, with his focus firmly on becoming a consistent presence in the starting XI.
The youngster believes that under Amorim’s progressive playing style and emphasis on developing youth, he will have the perfect platform to reignite his Man United career.
