Liverpool are reportedly preparing to launch a bold £150 million bid for Newcastle United’s striker Alexander Isak, with sources suggesting the club’s hierarchy are ready to back manager Arne Slot in securing a top centre-forward this summer.
After reinforcing key positions by signing Florian Wirtz (£116 million) and defenders Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez (£69.5 million), Liverpool are now determined to complete the trio with a clinical goalscorer.
Isak emerges as their prime target. The Swedish forward enjoyed a sensational season at Newcastle, scoring 27 goals in 42 appearances, including a match-winning strike in the Carabao Cup final against Liverpool.
Liverpool consider Alexander Isak their dream target
The Reds consider Isak their ‘dream’ target and they would have to be efficient in the market if they want to sign the striker this summer.
According to Express, the Reds can sanction the sales of five players in order to fund a transfer for the Newcastle United striker.
They have named Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Jarell Quansah and Andy Robertson as the players that they could look to offload this summer in order to finance what would be their biggest ever signing.
Nunez has been widely linked with a move to Napoli and with Slot not impressed with the attacker, his transfer is looking highly likely this summer.
As for Jota, his contract is expiring next summer and his fitness issues have been a huge cause of concern for the club.
Diaz has flirted with other clubs in the past and his sale could be considered if the Reds want to make a move for Isak.

Major rebuild at Anfield is set to continue this summer

Quansah is close to completing his move to Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga which would allow the Reds to have pure profit from the sale since he is a homegrown product.
Robertson, meanwhile, is expected to fall down the pecking order at the club due to the arrival of Kerkez and reports have suggested that is open to a move to Atletico Madrid.
Liverpool’s pursuit of Isak is about more than just replacing goals, they are aiming to build a formidable frontline centered around a proven, elite striker.
Having seen him score goals for fun for the Magpies, the Reds have been hugely impressed with his talent and a move could be on the cards this summer.
