Super middleweight David Stevens (14-2, 10s) defeated previously unbeaten Russia’s Petr Khamukov (13-1, 6 KOs) by a 10-round unanimous decision on Friday night at the Thunder Studios in Long Beach, California.

In the first two rounds, Stevens outworked Khamukov. In the final minute of the third round, Khamukov rocked Stevens, having him holding on. In the fourth and fifth rounds, Stevens came back well enough to win both rounds.

In the sixth round’s final minute, Stevens’ mouthpiece went out. Referee Ray Corona attempted to reinsert the mouthpiece in Khamukov’s mouth until he pointed to Stevens. Corona, without getting it washed out, gave it to Stevens. In the eighth round’s final minute, Khamukov stunned Stevens with a solid jab on the chin.

In the ninth round’s final seconds, Khamukov drove Stevens into the ropes, taking the round. In the tenth and final round, it went back and forth with much holding in a close finish.

The scores were 97-93, 97-93, and 97-93.

In the co-feature, super welterweight Leonardo Ruiz (16-1, 8 KOs) defeated Jarrod Tennant (9-5, 4 KOs) by an eight-round unanimous decision.

In the first round, the 40-year-old Tennant outlanded Ruiz. In the second through the fifth rounds, Ruiz came back to take all close rounds.

In the sixth and seventh rounds, Ruiz dominated. In the eighth and final round, as hard as he tried, Ruiz couldn’t put Tennant away, having him in trouble throughout.

The judges’ scores were 80-72, 80-72, and 79-73. The referee was Jerry Cantu.

Welterweight Juan ‘El Negro’ Sanchez (9-0, 8 KOs) stopped southpaw Yeis ‘El Tigre’ Gabriel Solano (15-6, 10 KOs) at 2:50 of the third round, scoring four knockdowns of a scheduled six rounds.

In the first rounds, last minute, Sanchez landed a right on the chin, dropping Solano for an 8-count from referee Ray Corona. In the second round’s final minute, Sanchez landed a right uppercut on the chin, dropping Solano for another 8-count.

In the third round, after a minute, a flurry of punches from Sanchez on the chin dropped Solano a third time. With a minute remaining, another flurry of punches on the chin and down went Solano a fourth time. With ten seconds remaining, referee Corona finally called a halt, with Sanchez scoring well.

Super Lightweight Leonardo Rubalcava (9-1-1, 3 KOs) lost a split decision to Dorian Mendez (6-0, 2 KOs) in an action-packed fight.

In the first round, Mendez kept coming forward with Rubalcava countering. In the final minute, Rubalcava landed a right on the chin, knocking Mendez back a step. In the second round, halfway through, Mendez turned southpaw in another slugfest. In the third and fourth rounds, they went toe to toe in the middle of the ring, with Rubalcava having an edge.

In the fifth round, halfway through, Rubalcava drew blood from the mouth of Mendez. In the sixth and final round, the action continued. In the final minute, Mendez landed an overhand right on the chin of Rubalcava, rocking him, but he came back scoring at the bell.

The scores were 59-55 for Mendez, 59-55 for Rubalcava and 59-55 for Mendez.  Jerry Cantu was the referee.

Welterweight Daniel Cruz (10-0, 3 KOs) defeated Sachin Rohila (8-4, 2 KOs) by a six-round unanimous decision.

The first three rounds were close, with Cruz ahead, going from orthodox to southpaw and back.

In the fourth and fifth rounds, it went back and forth, with Cruz having swelling under his right eye. In the sixth and final round, both slugged it out right to the bell, with Cruz looking like the winner.

The scores were 60-54, 59-55, and 59-55. Ray Corona was the referee.

Bantamweight Alexis Alvarado (8-1, 5 KOs) defeated Jose Silva Gonzalez (5-0-1, 4 KOs) by a four-round unanimous decision.

In the first two rounds, it was full of action with Gonzalez starting southpaw and switching back and forth. Alvarado had a slight edge. In the third round’s final minute, Alvarado dropped Gonzalez with a right hand in the corner for an 8-count from referee Ray Corona, who took a while before letting it continue. In the fourth and final round, Gonzalez came back well enough to hold his own, though he was outlanded by Alvarado.

The scores were 40-35, 40-35, and 39-36.

Featherweights Emiliano Alvarado (8-0, 5 KOs) beat Antonio Mejia (2-2) by a four-round unanimous decision. In the first round, it was an all-action round with less than a minute to go, Alvarado rocked Mejia with a right on the chin. In the second and third rounds, it went back and forth in a real slugfest.

In the fourth and final round, in the final thirty seconds, referee Jerry Cantu took a point from Mejia for a low blow after several warnings earlier in the fight.
