Manchester United are trying to sign Hugo Ekitike from Eintracht Frankfurt, as per reports.

One of Ruben Amorim’s biggest priorities this summer is to find a new striker to lead his toothless attack.

United started the summer by targeting Liam Delap but the Ipswich star decided to join Chelsea. The Red Devils have also shown interest in Viktor Gyokeres, who enjoyed a prolific spell under Amorim at Sporting CP.

However, recently, The Peoples Person relayed a report claiming Gyokeres prefers to join Arsenal.

In recent days, it has been widely reported that United have intensified their efforts to sign Ekitike.

Now, BILD (via UtdDistrict) claim that United’s officials are in talks with the French striker’s brother and agent, Karl Mwalako-Buchmann.

The 22-year-old is understood to be open to moving to Old Trafford. Further, it is believed that Eintracht’s sporting director, Markus Krösche, is friends with United’s head of recruitment, Christopher Vivell.

The France U21 international has also been heavily linked with Chelsea and Arsenal but the German publication suggest United are the only club to have spoken directly with Eintracht about their star forward.

Sky Sport Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg is also reporting that United have made contact with Ekitike’s representatives, having expressed their concrete interest in signing him.

Ekitike is one of the most promising strikers in Europe, having impressed fans and pundits alike with his technical prowess and movement.

The ex-Paris Saint-Germain talent is capable of playing as a centre-forward and second striker, owing to his brilliant link-up play. He scored 22 goals and registered 12 assists in 48 appearances for the German outfit during the recently concluded season.

However, the Bundesliga side have suggested they would only consider selling him this summer for a fee in the region of €100 million. Such a figure might prove to be a dealbreaker for United unless they manage to raise significant funds from sales.
