Former world No. 1 Roger Federer was a fierce finisher on the tennis court.

Today, Federer served as stirring opener on the race track.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion and Rolex ambassador Roger Federer waved the French Tricolor flag at 4 p.m. local time to start the 93rd edition of the prestigious 24 Hours of Le Mans today.

Sporting sunglasses, Federer looked thrilled conducting the flag-waving start to one of the world’s most famous races.

As the Official Timepiece and exclusive major partner of the 24 Hours of Le Mans since 2001, Rolex said in a statement it “recognizes the endeavor and sacrifice it takes to cross the finish line – a journey defined by determination and the pursuit of the extraordinary.”

The Swiss watchmaker has supported leading tennis tournaments for close to half a century—Rolex’s court-side clock recorded Carlos Alcaraz’s historic five hour, 29-minute win over Jannik Sinner in the longest Roland Garros final in history on Sunday—and endurance racing for six decades.

In recognition of the skill and resilience displayed in the quest for victory, this year’s winning drivers will be awarded a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona, one of the most revered accolades in motor sport
