Manchester United are reportedly prepared to move in for Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin, as the club steps up their efforts to bolster the attacking department.

Regularly scoring goals was a huge problem for United in the just-concluded 2024/25 season, with several forwards enduring inconsistent form. Rasmus Hojlund, in particular, struggled to fulfil his main role as the team’s lead striker and largely fell short of expectations.

Patience with Hojlund is wearing thin and it appears his days at United are numbered. The Dane is attracting strong interest from Italy and it’s believed United are open to offloading him.

Meanwhile, United are still on the hunt for a new striker after missing out on first-choice target Liam Delap, who elected to join Chelsea instead. Victor Osimhen, another player being linked to United, is close to signing for Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal.

Other names mentioned to be on United’s radar include Viktor Gyokeres (Sporting CP), Benjamin Sesko (RB Leipzig), Jean-Phillippe Mateta (Crystal Palace) and of course, Calvert-Lewin.

A previous report covered by The Peoples Person indicated that United were considering a move for Calvert-Lewin, who is expected to be available as a free agent this summer.

The England international’s deal with Everton expires at the end of this month and there is little to indicate he is planning to put pen to paper on an extension or fresh terms.

According to Fichajes, United have “set their sights” on Calvert-Lewin. Ruben Amorim’s side are understood to have “fully entered the battle” to secure the services of the forward.

But United are not the only Premier League club keeping tabs on the 28-year-old. He is also of interest to Newcastle, West Ham, Nottingham Forest and Tottenham Hotspur.

United view the opportunity to sign a player with Calvert-Lewin’s experience at “zero cost” as a major advantage. Determined not to let such a chance slip away, the club is pushing ahead with their pursuit.

Fichajes add, “Calvert-Lewin, who has had ups and downs due to injuries in recent years, remains a powerful striker with physical presence and good aerial play. At 28 years old, he still has much to offer, and Manchester believes that, with the right environment, he can rediscover his best form.”

“The club’s aim is to increase competition in attack, especially given the inconsistency of some forwards this season.”

Calvert-Lewin has yet to make final decision on his future but he will consider all offers that are presented to him.

Last term, the Sheffield-born footballer scored three goals and provided two assists in 26 Premier League appearances.
