Jay Triano is nearing a deal with the Dallas Mavericks to become an assistant coach under Jason Kidd, reports Jake Fischer. The possibility of Triano joining the Mavericks was previously reported by Marc Stein.
Triano spent the past three seasons as an assistant coach for the Sacramento Kings. Triano has prior head coaching experience with the Toronto Raptors and Phoenix Suns.
The Mavericks have been searching for a replacement for Alex Jensen, who left the Mavericks to become head coach of the University of Utah.
