Novak Djokovic is through to the last 16 at Roland Garros following a solid 6–3, 6–4, 6–2 win over Austrian qualifier Filip Misolic.
The match lasted two hours and eight minutes.
The world no.153 put up a decent fight despite the ranking gap. Novak looked confident in the first set, especially on his serve, not giving Misolic a single opportunity to break. He created nine break points in the Austrian’s first two service games but couldn’t convert them right away. Still, his patience paid off. He finally broke serve in the sixth game and took a 4–2 lead, which he kept to win the set in 48 minutes.
In the fourth game of the second set, Djokovic faced a break point for the first time, but fended it off. He immediately broke Misolic’s serve in the next game to take control and take the set 6–4.
The third set was Novak’s most dominant. He broke Misolic right at the beginning and again later for a 5–2 lead. With a strong service game, he wrapped up the set and the match 6–2.
Next up for Djokovic is Britain’s Cameron Norrie, currently ranked 81st in the world (5-0 H2H record).
The two recently met in the Geneva semi-final, where the Serbian star won in three sets. Their rematch is scheduled for Monday.
