The resurgence of Casemiro under Ruben Amorim was one of the few shining lights in an otherwise dismal campaign for Manchester United.

The Brazilian looked close to the exit doors when Toby Collyer overtook him in the pecking order while Ruben Amorim hardly utilised him in the opening couple of months of his reign.

But injuries meant the head coach had to turn to the former Real Madrid superstar, who grabbed his opportunity with both hands and was one of the most consistent performers, especially in Europe.

The Portuguese tactician was delighted with the midfield general’s professionalism both on and off the pitch, with the 33-year-old working hard behind-the-scenes to adapt to the new boss’ physical demands.

Story of Casemiro resurgence

But with Europa League glory ultimately eluding the Red Devils, INEOS are now considering parting ways with the five-time Champions League winner due to his humongous wages.

Amorim also seems to be reluctantly ready to sanction the Brazil international’s exit with the Old Trafford side reportedly open to a sale for €10 million.

But Casemiro only has one year left on his current deal, so not too many teams will be looking to pay as much. United also have the option of extending his deal by another year, which looks unlikely to be triggered.

Fanatik have revealed that Besiktas want the United midfielder but on loan. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is a fan while Amorim has given the green light for the player’s exit. All that is left is for Casemiro himself to sign off on the deal.

Solskjaer wants Casemiro

“The Istanbul giant, which continues its work, has dropped a bombshell. Aiming for the championship next season, the Super League side could sign Manchester United midfielder Casemiro.

“Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has reportedly approved Casemiro’s departure and wants to see new faces in the team.

“It is also among the information received that the black and white club’s priority is to rent Casemiro. It is a matter of curiosity what kind of choice the star football player will make this summer.”

The report does not mention the wages Besiktas will pay the midfielder nor whether the Turkish side will include an option or obligation to buy.

Given the player’s contract situation, such a deal hardly makes sense from a United point of view. So for now, this report must be taken with a hefty pinch of salt.
