Cristiano Ronaldo‘s club future has become one of the hottest topics in world soccer following a cryptic social media post hinting at a possible departure from Saudi Arabia. With no definitive word on what’s next, reports suggest Al Nassr are preparing significant signings to persuade the Portuguese star to remain with the Saudi Pro League side.

Ronaldo’s message—“this chapter is over”—shared online after the season finale, fueled speculation about a potential exit. Some believe it opens the door to a return to international club competition, such as the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. However, this scenario clashes with Al Nassr’s vision, as the club is actively working to keep their marquee player.

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Al Nassr has identified Luis Diaz and David Hancko as top-priority summer targets. The Liverpool winger and Feyenoord defender are seen as critical additions to strengthen the squad and build a winning project around Ronaldo.

Al Nassr has been in the market for a left winger since early 2025. Previous targets included Diaz, AC Milan’s Rafael Leao, and Brighton’s Kaoru Mitoma—but none were secured. Now, club officials believe Díaz is the ideal fit, and they’re preparing a fresh offer to try to land the Colombian international.

Still, Al Nassr may face competition for Díaz. FC Barcelona sporting director Deco has had his eye on the Colombian for months. While Barca may not match Al Nassr financially, the allure of continuing his career in European football could prove to be a deciding factor.

Meanwhile, Hancko’s move to Saudi Arabia seems more attainable. The Slovakian defender, previously targeted by Juventus, has reportedly received a lucrative offer from Al Nassr that far exceeds his current contract at Feyenoord. Only an official bid to the Dutch club remains before a deal can be finalized.

Al Nassr completely focused on Ronaldo’s renewal

“This chapter is over. The story? Still being written. Grateful to all.” With those words, Ronaldo appeared to hint at the end of his Al Nassr stint following the final match of the 2024–25 SPL campaign. Contrary to expectations, however, the Saudi club remains intent on renewing his contract.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, Al Nassr’s sporting director Fernando Hierro emphasized the club’s desire to continue with Ronaldo: “Cristiano is currently with his national team, enjoying a few days of rest. He has a valid contract until June 30. Work is ongoing to reach an agreement that suits all parties. We’re negotiating a renewal. God willing, we’ll find a solution.”
