Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight knockout artist Dustin Jacoby returns to action against relative newcomer Bruno Lopes at UFC Vegas 107 this weekend (Sat., May 31, 2025) from inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada.
But Jacoby is disappointed to fight in the small Apex facility, especially after his stunning knockout-of-the-year contender at UFC Tampa (watch highlights).
“I’m a little bummed. I’m 37 years old and definitely at the end of my career in the big picture, and I don’t want to waste my time at the Apex,” Jacoby told Just Scrap Radio. “I’ve been there and feel like I’ve paid my dues. I fought there all during COVID and went on a seven-fight unbeaten streak, pretty much all at the Apex. And I’m coming off a huge Performance of the Night knockout in front of 20,000 fans… and I get rewarded with a fight at the Apex.
I’m not too happy about it, but at the same time, I feel like the UFC treats me fairly well and takes care of me,” Jacoby added. “It is what it is, man.”
Oddly, the UFC often schedules exciting fighters or those coming off big knockouts, like Jacoby, at the Apex. Another example is Welsh fighter Oban Elliott, who was scheduled to fight there after an incredible knockout inside Madison Square Garden.
Nevertheless, to his point, with his career winding down, Jacoby deserves sold-out crowds, not a 500-person venue. He can’t fight forever, and memories of roaring fans are running out.
