BJ Penn is once again in legal trouble.
The former UFC two-division champion is fully convinced that his family members are being replaced by government agents, a massive conspiracy intended to steal the Penn family fortune. Penn sees imposters and actors everywhere from his immediate family to retired UFC Heavyweight Brendan Schaub. To put it bluntly, fans are concerned about the UFC Hall of Famer’s mental health and immediate future.
Penn’s latest Instagram post isn’t alleviating concerns. In the lengthy video above, Penn can be seen laying in his bed while surrounded by a half-a-dozen police officers. Penn argues with the officers and asks why he’s being arrested, and the reason given is harassment. “How did I break the law?” Penn asks on several occasions. Eventually, Penn is pulled out of bed and put in cuffs.
Later arrest records would show the official charge listed as “Abuse family or household member: offensive physical contact.” Per the report, Penn posted $2000 bail and was released with a court date scheduled for Tuesday, May 27.
Penn’s video above includes lengthy captions about impersonations and faked family members. In total, Penn claims that his mother and two brothers have had their identities stolen by federal agents. He also accuses his cousin of impersonating his mother, and he blames his high school girlfriend of stealing from him during the arrest.
Now 46 years of age, Penn last fought opposite Clay Guida at UFC 237 in May 2019, losing a competitive decision. Though officially retired, Penn has still found his way into several fights at local bars in Hawaii, which has done little to alleviate concerns about his longterm health.
