Liverpool are back on their perch as England’s biggest club – and they’re built to stay there – Liverpool FC

Obviously getting Champions League football has been a group effort, they all deserve praise for that, everyone involved in the club.

But if not for the dominant and warrior performances of Levi Colwill during April and May, I’m not sure that we would even be having this conversation.

He has been an absolute rock at the back and he’s really stood up when we needed him to do so.

Chelsea’s defence has improved vastly, and as well as Enzo Maresca rightfully taking credit for that, Colwill deserves a lot of that credit as well.

Levi has channelled his inner John Terry and Gary Cahill to become colossal at the back for The Blues. We have needed every one of his match winning tackles and blocks to make sure we are in the position we are now in, back in the Champions League.

But his rise has not just been about his performances, it has also been about his attitude, character, and personality. Levi has stepped up as a leader, as a voice, as a battler, and as a classic-style Chelsea player with a do or die attitude leaving it all out on the pitch.

I’ve seen him celebrate big blocks and tackles like scoring a goal, and I love to see that. It shows he truly cares, it shows every moment of every game truly matters. He’s been in a lot of battles with strikers this season and he has often come out on top, especially in the last couple of months.

I hope this is the moment now where we see the true leadership side of his game shine and develop even more, because he has always had that about him.

For Levi, Chelsea is his club, he just wants to see it succeed like all of us. And the way he has stood tall in these last couple of months should be fully praised and acknowledged. I see this kicking on into next season now and at the age of 22, he has a chance to write himself into the Chelsea history books.
