Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Hall of Famer Urijah Faber’s regional mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion, A1 Combat, electrified fans yesterday (Sat., May 24, 2025) at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Sacramento, California.
Known for spotlighting up-and-coming local California talent, A1 Combat Prospect Series delivered a thrilling card packed with amateur bouts.
One of the most explosive moments came in a Light Heavyweight clash between Richard Nurse (3-5) and Hisaki Kotoku (5-0). The fight ended in a mere six seconds when Kotoku, a Japanese-American prospect, unleashed a devastating 1-2 combo that sent Nurse crashing to the canvas, unconscious.
Watch the finish below:
Now boasting a perfect 5-0 record with three knockouts, Kotoku is a standout in the Light Heavyweight division, which struggles to produce consistent talent on the regional circuit. His crisp striking, relentless aggression, and natural athleticism make him a rare gem in a division desperate for fresh blood.
Kotoku is in no rush to get to the next level and plans to be an amateur champion and then become a regional champion. However, he might change his tune once the competition dries up and he realizes there is need for Light Heavyweights in the major promotions.
Nevertheless, keep an eye out for his guy as he climbs the amateur ranks.
