PHOENIX – Position Sports, in partnership with the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame, announced the field for the 2025 Hall of Fame Series Baltimore at the CFG Bank Arena on Monday, November 3. This marks the Hall of Fame’s return to Charm City following last year’s successful debut event.

The Baltimore doubleheader will feature compelling local matchups that celebrate the region’s rich basketball heritage. Headlining the night, Maryland will face Coppin State—located 30 and 3 miles from CFG Bank Arena, respectively—while Towson takes on Loyola Maryland, situated just 10 and 6 miles away. These regional matchups promise an electric atmosphere and a can’t-miss night of college basketball.

“Returning to Baltimore for a second year demonstrates the growing excitement around the Hall of Fame Series and the region’s passion for college basketball,” said Melissa Meacham-Grossman, President of Position Sports. “With Maryland headlining alongside respected local programs like Coppin State, Towson, and Loyola, this event highlights the incredible basketball tradition in and around Baltimore. It’s an honor to partner with the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame to bring these matchups back to the world-class CFG Bank Arena.”

Fans can sign up for presale information now at HOFSeries.com. Further details regarding ticketing, game time, broadcast coverage, and media credentials for the event will be shared at a later date.

Past stops have included the following cities: Baltimore (2024), Charlotte (2023), Las Vegas (2023-24), New York (2024), Phoenix (2023-24), San Antonio (2023), and Toronto (2023).

Maryland vs. Coppin State Series History

Maryland holds a 2-1 edge in the all-time series, with all three matchups taking place at College Park. The Eagles earned a 70-53 victory in the first meeting on December 12, 1989, with current Coppin State head coach Larry Stewart starring as a forward on that Eagles team. The Terrapins then posted a 95-79 win on November 25, 2022, and a 75-53 victory in the last meeting on December 28, 2023.

Quotes from Head Coaches:

“The Hall of Fame Series will be a tremendous way to open the upcoming season, and it is going to be special for the passionate basketball fans of Baltimore. I believe the last time the University of Maryland Men’s Basketball team played in Baltimore was 2018, so it will be a good opportunity to get the Terps back in a city with such great basketball history.”

Buzz Williams | Maryland

“It’s a great opportunity for our program and institution to be a part of this HOF Series Baltimore to kick off the season. I am excited for our guys and our fans as we get to play against a top-tier program like Maryland, who welcomes new Head Coach Buzz Williams right out of the gate. I’m expecting CFG Arena to be sold out with both of our schools’ fan bases in the building along with the great sports fans in the City of Baltimore.”

Larry Stewart | Coppin State

Towson vs. Loyola Maryland Series History

The Greyhounds and Tigers are meeting for the first time since 2018. Towson has won the last four matchups, including an 85-69 win on November 25, 2018, but Loyola leads the all-time series 44-31. The Greyhounds’ last win was on November 26, 2012 (65-53). The programs first met on December 12, 1934, with Loyola winning the first 20 matchups.

Quotes from Head Coaches:

“We are excited to tip off the season at the newly renovated CFG Arena versus a Loyola program that is on the rise under Coach Loeffler. I want to thank the Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame for including us in this showcase of basketball programs from Maryland. It is always a challenge but also exciting to play the other local programs, and this game will be no different. We hope to see the Towson faithful at CFG as we begin the 25-26 season!”

Pat Skerry | Towson

“We are excited to be playing at a great venue in our home city in an event that brings local teams and fans together. These games should provide a fun environment for all basketball fans in the Charm City.”

Josh Loeffler | Loyola Maryland
