The Seattle Seahawks will once again conduct joint practices this preseason.

The Athletic reports that the Green Bay Packers will host practices with the Seahawks in Green Bay before their week three preseason game on August 23rd.

Packers will have joint practices with the Colts in Indy and Seahawks in Green Bay this summer, per source. Those sessions will precede second and third preseason games.

Last season the Seahawks had their first joint practices in over three decades when they conducted these with the Tennessee Titans. The Titans went on to win that preseason game 16-15. Under Pete Carroll, joint practices were never considered. There were Seahawks fans who were hoping that Carroll might change his tune on joint practices this season, and that he and the Las Vegas Raiders would join the Seahawks this offseason. Unfortunately, that was not the case.

However, with the Packers now hosting the Seahawks, that will make two years in a row under head coach Mike Macdonald that the Seahawks will have a scrimmage against another NFL team. When asked last year about joint practices, Coach Macdonald stated that these practices can be very beneficial to the team.

“Really it’s an opportunity to put it in a setting where you can control the tempos, control the drills, get some high intensity for the guys so they’re ready to roll come the opener time,” Macdonald said. “And it’s just easier to control them than true game reps. Still working through who is going to play in the preseason and for how much, but a great opportunity if you do it the right way to get some really good competition in and sharpen each other and try to get ready for the regular season.”
