UFC legend Bas Rutten believes that Jon Jones will eventually take the fight with Tom Aspinall.

As we know, the undisputed UFC heavyweight champion is Jon Jones – and we also know that he is seemingly refusing to take a fight against Tom Aspinall, the current interim champion. Despite everyone’s pleas for him to get on with it, Jon seems to be interested in doing literally anything else other than training to face the Englishman.

In addition to that, Jon Jones also insists on trolling the masses from time to time, only serving to make the mixed martial arts world even angrier. Alas, he’s still regarded as one of the greatest to ever do it, and there are some who are willing to be patient, just in case he does decide to change his mind.

In a recent interview, Bas Rutten gave his thoughts on the whole Jon Jones/Tom Aspinall situation.

Bas Rutten’s view on Jon Jones debacle

“He should take the fight and I think eventually he will take the fight. He also knows it’s going to be a very tough fight—Aspinall is a very impressive fighter. His movement is… John is one of those guys who simply wants to be the best, and you push the buttons long enough, I know Jon is going to do it. Because he’s a competitor and he has to do it for himself. But yeah, it could make him train really freaking hard.”

“Both these guys are so good, but you see Aspinall—the way he moves, how fast he is, it’s a dangerous fighter to fight. But he has to do it, and I think eventually he will do it because otherwise there will always be that doubt—‘Was he afraid of him?’ And that’s the one thing fighters do not want to retire with, I guarantee you that.”
