Katarina Johnson-Thompson will do the sprint hurdles and javelin on May 18 at the annual track and field meet in the East Midlands university town this weekend

Katarina Johnson-Thompson will compete at this year’s Loughborough International on Sunday May 18 at Loughborough University’s Paula Radcliffe Stadium.

The 32-year-old heptathlon silver medallist from last summer’s Olympics in Paris will line up in the sprint hurdles and javelin events.

Johnson-Thompson holds the British heptathlon record and boasts a glittering career that includes gold at the 2022 Commonwealth Games and 2023 World Championships.

Now in its 67th year, Loughborough International is considered the traditional pipe opener to the UK outdoor track and field season. The meeting features teams from England, Wales, Scotland, GB & NI Under-20s, the National Athletics League plus host team Loughborough.

Femi Akinsanya, director of athletics at Loughborough University, said: “Katarina Johnson-Thompson is one of the biggest names in world athletics and we’re thrilled she’s returning to LIA (Loughborough International Athletics).

“The day always brings an incredible atmosphere as talented athletes compete in a first-class environment. Whether you’re a long-time fan or new to the sport, there’s something for everyone to enjoy.”

Tickets are £8 for adults and £3 for students and the meeting starts at 10.30am.
