Manchester United are reportedly leading the race to land Antoine Semenyo despite competition from Newcastle United and Arsenal.

The Red Devils fell to a new low over the weekend, suffering an embarrassing 2-0 defeat against West Ham United that pushed them to the 16th position in the Premier League table.

United look devoid of any clear identity, intensity, and creativity under Ruben Amorim. Still, they remain an attractive destination for top players.

It has already been widely reported that Wolves superstar Matheus Cunha is prepared to join United even if they fail to offer Champions League football. Now, it is being claimed that United have “emerged from the pack in the race” to sign another Premier League star.

As per Football Insider, United are in pole position to sign Semenyo from Bournemouth.

United are planning a major overhaul in attacking areas and have shown interest in signing the Ghana international.

The 25-year-old Cherries forward has enjoyed a prolific campaign under Andoni Iraola, notching 11 goals and seven assists across all competitions this season.

The versatile attacking star, who is capable of playing on both flanks, has also attracted interest from Premier League rivals Newcastle and Arsenal.

However, it is understood that Amorim’s side are in driving seat to sign Semenyo, who is tied to Bournemouth until 2029.

According to the report, the Mancunians’ chances of winning the race for Semenyo “will be boosted” if they win the Europa League and qualify for next season’s Champions League.

As part of their overhaul, the Premier League giants could sell Alejandro Garnacho for Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) reasons. The home-grown talent is on the radar of Chelsea ahead of the summer.

Semenyo could potentially replace Garnacho at Old Trafford. However, it is interesting to note that the Argentina international has been directly involved in more goals (21) than the Bournemouth winger this campaign.
