Now that John Cena is back on top as the Undisputed WWE Champion, he has a big target on his back. The veteran is also on his Farewell Tour, set to culminate in December, after which he retires from in-ring competition. As part of the tour, The Last Real Champion will be making an appearance on WWE’s October premium live event, Crown Jewel. This time, the PLE will emanate from Perth, Australia, instead of Saudi Arabia.
The Aussie Icon Grayson Waller Warns John Cena About WWE Crown Jewel: Perth
In their appearance on “The Project,” Grayson Waller and Rhea Ripley promoted WWE’s return to Australia for Crown Jewel. The host reminded Waller that Cena will be in the Land from Down Under later this year, wondering whether he is a potential challenger.
“This is John Cena’s last appearance in Australia, and that’s the crazy thing. John Cena is, obviously, the GOAT. He’s a legend in this industry. But he has to remember—he’s coming to Australia, lad. This is my house. I run this place. So if he wants to come in here, he’s going to have to go through me,” The Aussie Icon stated.
He further claimed, “That retirement tour is supposed to end in December. [But] maybe it finishes in October, because if he comes anywhere near me in my country, I’m putting him out to pasture.”
Waller and Cena Met in London Two Years Ago
The O2 Arena in London hosted WWE Money in the Bank 2023. The PLE featured a surprise appearance by John Cena, who teased bringing WrestleMania to the UK. Grayson Waller cut Cena’s promo short by saying that Australia deserves to host The Show of Shows instead.
The two went back and forth, with The Moment Maker holding his own. The Franchise Player ultimately finished him off with an Attitude Adjustment to end the segment.
While the seeds were planted for a future match between the two, the 35-year-old Australian needs to be built up again after spending way too much time in the shadows. The young star has remained stagnant and barely done anything of relevance since losing the World Tag Team Titles on Friday Night SmackDown.
Meanwhile, The Last Real Champion is booked for Backlash, scheduled to air live from Enterprise Center on May 10. Cena’s Undisputed WWE Title defense will headline the PLE, as he wrestles hometown hero Randy Orton. The two legends, who have squared off numerous times in the last two decades, are set to put a bow on their rivalry.
