Chelsea are reportedly considering using Manchester United loanee Jadon Sancho to get their hands on Jamie Gittens.

Sancho moved to Stamford Bridge in a season-long loan deal from United last summer.

Their win over Fulham earlier this month activated the clause that obligates them to sign the Englishman permanently for around £25 million as they can now no longer finish below 14th in the Premier League.

However, the 25-year-old has endured a torrid second half of the season in London and there are question marks over Chelsea’s intentions concerning his future. The Blues have an option to back out of the agreement after paying a £5m penalty.

Interestingly, a report suggests Chelsea could use Sancho in a swap deal this summer.

According to Teamtalk, Chelsea have “floated the idea” of signing Sancho with the “sole purpose of using him” as part of the deal to sign Gittens.

Enzo Maresca’s side are plotting a move for the Borussia Dortmund winger, who has had a direct hand in 17 goals in 45 appearances this term.

Gittens spent time at Chelsea’s academy before moving to Manchester City. His potential caught Dortmund’s attention and led to a move to the Bundesliga in 2020.

Chelsea are now keen on re-signing him and believe their pursuit is achievable as Dortmund value him at just £35m.

Further, it is claimed that a return to Dortmund would interest Sancho and his representatives have been approached by the German outfit ahead of the summer.

Interestingly, both Sancho and Gittens are represented by The Elite Project Group.

As far as United are concerned, they would be happy with Chelsea getting their way and moving Sancho to Dortmund as the England international has no place in Ruben Amorim’s plans.
