On Thursday night, the Miami Dolphins selected Kenneth Grant — a gigantic defensive tackle out of Michigan. On Friday night, they secured another big boy with their second round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, this time on the offensive side of the football.

Jonah Savaiinaea, offensive guard out of Arizona, was the selection at #37 after Miami made a trade with the Las Vegas Raiders that saw the Dolphins give up picks 48, 98 and 135 to receive picks 37 and 143.

Savaiinaea has played both tackle and guard in college, but has been projected as a starting guard in the National Football League. He stands in at 6’4” and weighs 324 lbs.

The former Arizona Wildcat will compete with Liam Eichenberg and recently signed offensive lineman Larry Borom for the vacant starting guard spot opposite free agent addition James Daniels.

Savaiinaea was born in American Samoa, and attended the same high school as current Miami Dolphins starting quarterback Tua Tagovailoa — Saint Louis School in Honolulu, Hawaii. He started as a freshman in college — playing all 12 games at right guard. During his sophomore season, he converted to right tackle, but still split time at both tackle and guard.
