Newcastle United are interested in signing Alexis Saelemaekers from AC Milan in the summer transfer window, according to Il Messaggero. The Italian publication has revealed that the Magpies are ready to pay the asking price of €20m (£17m) for the Belgium international midfielder.
Saelemaekers joined AC Milan from Anderlecht in 2020. The 25-year-old had a loan spell at Bologna in the 2023-24 campaign and joined AS Roma on loan last summer. The midfielder’s deal with the Roman club ends at the end of the season.
While Roma would love to keep Saelemaekers at the club for next season, the former Serie A champions are unwilling to pay the €20m (£17m) transfer fee that Milan want for him. This has opened the door for Newcastle to make a move for Saelemaekers, who has scored six goals and given three assists in 15 starts and four substitute appearances and has provided one assist in three starts and four substitute appearances in the UEFA Europa League so far this season.
