What’s going on with the Miami Dolphins? Your take!

Tyree Hill, should he stay or should he go, according to you!

As we barrel towards the draft, there are already some big offseason questions that need to be answered before a single player is selected this coming Thursday. Does the team want to trade Tyreek Hill, or does he want to be traded? Both sides say no, but the rumors persist. Where there are enough rumors in the NFL, there is usually some level of truth. Then there is the Jalen Ramsey who, for some unknown reason, decided along with the Dolphins front office for both sides to “explore” a trade. While that sounds like an issue that is still possibly up in the air, and no one knows what the problem was that brought those two sides to that conclusion, it seems as if Ramsey, as a Miami Dolphins player, has come to an end. With all of that going on, I asked the question:

What is your take on what is going on with the team right now? Do you believe there are deeper issues we have not been told about? If so, is the issue with the coaching staff, the front office, or both, or are these two players just divas, and we are better off without them on the roster?

Below are some of your thoughts and answers to the question of the day-

David. PBC has an entire rebuild plan!

I said it before, and I’ll say it again. Get rid of Ramsey and Hill before the start of the season. Next, we trade Tua at the deadline. Give Wilson the reigns and hopefully he improves to be serviceable. Just not so fast to jeopardize a top 5 draft pick for ‘26.

This year, we build the trenches, get 1 Cb for the future and look for a WR. Next year we get our QB and finish filling in the last few pieces.

VolFaninFla is all about getting right to the point.

Stupid owner. Terrible GM.

Dolphster sees this thing as a total disaster.

My fear is that what is happening is the perfect storm. A front office that has not shown that it is very good at strategic thinking and team building, a coach that the players like but don’t respect and therefore aren’t disciplined, and a few diva players who not only disrupt, but also possible poison other players. The team seems to have tried quite a few different approaches in the last 20 years, without much to show for it.

Yarganaught doesn’t believe this changes much.

One less diva on the team. Meh, I don’t really see this as changing the plan very much. Instead of going with a CB 1st, and perhaps doubling up on DT later, they now have to go with a CB 1st, and perhaps another CB in the early/mid rounds. This was always going to be a Defense-heavy draft for Miami.

sdphinsfan sees the issues as stemming from a lack of leadership from the top down.

Grier doesn’t project leadership from the front office, MM doesn’t project leadership from the HC position, and we lost our two most prominent leaders in the locker room.

This type of move is what happens when there is no “culture” that defines the organization. That said, I’m ok with it. When you bring in big name guys and pay them big time money and you don’t get big time performance, you should show them the door as soon as you can. Ramsey was “Ramsey” in only one game that I recall as a Dolphin. Simply not good enough.

A competent GM could work his way out of this in the next two drafts. My biggest concern is that we don’t have that. Willing to be proven wrong, but I’m not holding my breath.

Alley Gator just wants a who are you pounding the table for post.

What’s happening? It’s a week until the draft and someone here needs to start a ‘who are you pounding the table for?’ story.

I’m hoping for a trade down to add another 2nd round pick because I really don’t see a lot of difference between what will be available at #13 vs. the upper part of round 2. Or even trade #13 for a high second and 3rd. (that would give us 2 picks in round 2, 3, 4 and 5.)

But I’m pounding the table for Donovan Jackson, OG/OT from Ohio State. He’s not a road grader, he’s a movement guy that fits our outside zone offense. He’s a guard, which we need to keep our eyes from being horrified seeing Eich start at guard again. But last year when Ohio State LT Simmons got hurt, Jackson moved to LT and played well, all the way to the National Championship which they won. So he’s got versatility as well. I’ve seen him mocked toward the bottom of round 1 down to our 2nd round pick at #48.

Luvs2drnk2.0 does not believe a rebuild is happening for a couple of reasons.

Nothing that has happened so far is ANY indication that a rebuild has started. They are operating almost EXACTLY as they operated last year. The only difference IMO is they are operating this year under stricter restraints form Ross so as to not make Miami a less desirable location should changes need to be made next year. It would make it VERY difficult to find a good GM/HC if you had no draft capital AND no cap space for 2+ years to start a rebuild. Whereas how they are currently operating would set up a new regime in 2026 and beyond with the cap room and draft capital to conduct a proper rebuild should things go badly this year.

FireGrier basically said that they just have not figured it out. I have serious doubts they ever will.

There is no template in place on how to build a winning organization. That is what is going on.

Bill Moody doesn’t think that they even know…

I believe they are conflicted… They don’t know themselves if they are in rebuild mode or win now mode, so their decisions are erratic.

Chucky2022 sees this whole thing being turned on its head this season.

I will say it again for anyone who will listen: this is a throw away year! This team will be worse than last year and a few draft picks are not going to change that. Grier will be the first to be fired mid-season. McDaniels will follow him, as the new GM will want to bring in is own coach. The new coach and GM will trade Tua and draft a new QB. Tus will end up with whatever team hires McDaniels as their OC. Grier and McDaniels are only trying to win a playoff game and you all better hope that does not happen or we will be stuck with both for another 5 years. Change should have been made 2 years ago.

That’s our random ten comments for this evening. The consensus is that there is no consensus. Let’s all hope that they manage to not screw up the draft later this week. If you missed the original post and you wish to share your take on what’s happening, please share in the comments section. Thank you, as always, to each of you who took the time to answer our question of the day.
